StatWorks Joins Pharm-Olam International
HOUSTON, TEXAS June 22, 2011. Pharm-Olam International Ltd. (POI) a multi-national full service CRO to pharmaceutical and biotech industries announces an agreement to acquire StatWorks, Inc., a biostatistics and data management firm based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The acquisition is expected to close by June 30, 2011.

Their addition compliments our biometrics staff, expands our customer base, and gives Pharm-Olam a local presence in Research Triangle Park", said John Hovre, Chief Operating Officer. "Because of our accelerating growth in contracts, customers, and backlog we will continue to aggressively explore the acquisition of other CROs to provide cost-effective global clinical research services."
This acquisition is part of POI's continued expansion strategy which started last year with the acquisition of a Canadian CRO that added data management, biostatistics and medical safety departments to its existing Canadian operations.
Suzanne Hackett, StatWorks' founder, will join POI as its Vice President of Biostatistics. She has over 20 years of experience in biostatistics and drug development. Ms. Hackett's experience is broad, encompassing a variety of therapeutic areas and statistical components of the development process, including protocol design and sample size calculations, analysis plans, randomization schedules, statistical analysis, DSMB Committee participation, and project management.
Mark Paul of StatWorks will join as POI's Vice President of Biometric Sales. Prior to joining StatWorks, Mr. Paul served in various management positions for a large, multinational contract research organization as well as in several start-up clinical development companies. Mr. Paul has also performed operational and financial oversight for several large scale projects and NDA submissions.

StatWorks, Inc. Hires Kimberly New, CCRA as Project Director
StatWorks, Inc., a contract research organization (CRO) specializing in statistical and data management services, announces the addition of Kimberly New, CCRA as Project Director. Kimberly New will provide senior leadership to grow the company’s project management team.
Ms New’s focus will be utilizing her 20 years of experience in both the CRO and pharmaceutical industry to manage global projects and to manage key sponsor relationships. She will be the key contact with sponsors to ensure projects are conducted efficiently and on time.

She earned her bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Statistics from Eastern Kentucky University. She began her career as a statistical programmer with Statistical Consultants and was the primary lead programmer for the ISS and ISE for a cardiovascular product later approved by the FDA. She has supported over 50 pharmaceutical companies (phase I-IV) in the areas of data management, programming and project management. She also oversaw clinical data management and site management activities with a late-phase CRO, REGISTRAT.
Prior to joining StatWorks, Ms. New was the Project Director for Ikano Therapeutics Inc. overseeing the execution of Ikano’s clinical trials including vendor selection & management, clinical monitoring, site management, clinical supplies, subject material development, training and oversight of data management and statistical analysis activities.
